RGS875 Reciprocating Bed Grinder
A fully programmable reciprocating bed type grinder with programmable loading height makes this machine ideal for ingate removal on larger investment castings. This machine is the latest in Bi-directional grinding. It offers extremely low cycle times and an affordable alternative to manual grinding for large jobs. The machine is simple to operate and offers high levels of accuracy and repeatability.
Internal Hydraulic System
The RGS875 has an inbuilt hydraulic power pack. The power pack supplies hydraulic power for the spindle brake for rapid stops and for hydraulic belt tensioning. The belt tension is monitored and will cause an "Emergency Stop" shutdown should the abrasive belt break during operation.
Grinding Belt
The RGS 875 is designed for use with standard 8" wide x 132" long (200mm x 3350mm) abrasive belts but belts between 7" to 9" (175mm to 225mm) can be run with oscillation. A 10" (250mm) belt can be run, but without oscillation. The totally enclosed fan cooled 75 HP (55 kW) drive motor is designed to remove up to 2.5 in.˛ (1613 mm˛) of ingate in contact with the abrasive belt during the grind cycle.
Operator Interface Panel
This panel allows for digital programming of the following parameters: grind rate, grind height, ingate height, belt oscillation distance, incremental height, spark out cycles, and cycle counter as standard. Work table height and distances are also programmed via the operator interface. In addition, the RGS875 also has part storage for 850 parts. The panel displays operating modes, machine alarms, diagnostic screens, and preventive maintenance alarms with a PLC low battery warning. All doors are monitored and will trigger an "Emergency Stop" shutdown should they be opened.
Work Table
The 18" x 24" (457mm x 610mm) table has ˝" (12mm) T-slots as standard for fast tooling changes. The loading height is programmable to adapt various loading schemes. The machine throat is 2" to 12" (50mm x 300mm). The Table moves in and out under the belt, doubling grinding speed. The cross cutting effect of removing material from two directions also increases stock removal. The table can handle weights of 200 lbs., for the casting and fixture combined.
